Where Have All The Kit Kat’s Gone?

9 March 2010 2 Comments

A Kit Kat is a confection which was first created by Rowntree’s of York, England and now produced worldwide by Nestlé. But for some time I have not been able to find it in Costa Rica.

Not in the Automercado. Not in Mas X Menos. Not even at Pricesmart, where I could buy the box of the dozen delicious snacks.

In the past month I have travelled to Panama and Colombia and nothing. Not a single finger of a bite.

So, where have all the Kit Kat’s gone?

I loved the four-finger version of the chocolate-covered biscuit bar. In 1999 the Big Kat was introduced, this is the one large finger and though my love is for the four finger bar, I welcomed the chunky.

Kit Kat is produced in countries by Nestlé: UK, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, Algeria, South Africa, Germany, Japan, China, Malaysia, India, Turkey, Venezuela and Bulgaria. In the United States Kit Kat bars are produced under license by the The Hershey Company, a Nestlé competitor, due to a prior licensing agreement with Rowntree.

However, the US bars do not taste like the those in the rest of the world, through use of added sugar and less milk in the chocolate.
